Join the West Corners Lions Club

We do not run membership drives. People find their way to the Lions because they saw the work and wanted in, and that is the right way to do it. If the work on this site sounds like something you would want to be part of, you already have a sense of who we are.

Come to a meeting

The best way to find out is to visit. Visitors are always welcome, and there is no pressure to join. We meet on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays at Most Holy Rosary Church, 2596 Main Street, Maine, NY 13802. From October 15 through the winter, meetings start at 5:30 PM. You will meet the members, hear what the club is working on, and see how a meeting runs.

We start with the Pledge of Allegiance, the Lions Prayer, and “God Bless America.” We eat first, then get down to business. Our meetings are informal, free-flowing, and friendly. We are not big on formality.

What it costs

Your first meeting is on us. First-time guests do not pay for the meal. After that, you pay $10 for your meal at the end of the meeting. We do not bill accounts. Dues are $40 twice a year, due in January and July.

What members do

Members test children’s eyesight, read scholarship applications, restock food pantries, collect hearing aids, cook at the club’s fundraisers, and show up when a neighbor needs help. You do not need experience, only a little time and the willingness to help. Learn more about our community service on the Services page.

There is plenty to work on. Our members help with several service and fundraising projects, including children’s eyesight testing and scholarships. The scholarship committee reads every application.

You don’t have to be a member to help

If you want to come help pack chicken barbecue lunches, contact us and we will find a way to get you involved, just for one day. If you want to help with tree sales, contact us. We have volunteers who come back year after year just for the tree sales. People also come help at the Turkey Party, so you do not have to be a member to do that either. We are always looking for help.
